Hammer Sound Commentary Track

Here's the art side commentary track for the Hammer Sound. This is something i've always wanted to do for comics, so with the project already online I'd thought i would give it a try. Please excuse any sort of production issues, my mic was a bit off for this and i tried to fix it myself. Anyways, open up Hammer Sound in another window/tab, start the podcast, then flip along. The podcast is about 13-minutes.

Some new sketches, yeah, I know it's been a while since the last update, but as you know things have been quite the battle! I took some things into account from various comments and reviews (not those of a certain podcast, thank you). But I'll tell you, I wanted to re-vamp some designs either way. Trying Jonah out with larger mitts. I was originally going for the look from Barracuda in Punisher, but I actually like the way things came out on the one in the middle on the bottom. It'll really lend itself better to action sequences. Pollie Ann got a major makeover, but I'm personally happier with it now.

Either way, just making adjustments and having a bit of fun with things!

New art!

We really want new content to show here, rather than just old sketch stuff or doing wallpapers from old things. Luan and I always loved in old cartoons where between commercials or in art books you'd see full illustrations by creators that are fun, and usually are out of the normal context, but still show the nature of the characters. I colored this one.

I haven't ever had too many people color my work so far, it's just been that not many people have had the time to. So seeing this, and seeing it done so amazingly well made my day. This piece was colored by my great friend Jake Ekiss. Check out his site if you get a chance!

This is an homage to My Neighbor Totoro with Johah, Pollie Ann, and Beebee. I used ink wash for the characters, acrylics for the background (watered down in some areas), and a japanese white pentel scrapbooking pen for the rain (smudged it while wet with my fingers to get the splashy effects).

I joke with my friends from time to time, this time it was Cully because he joked that he was duped, and thought the story was called "HamNer Sound." So I made him a picture to make up for the disappointment!

The Zuda Experience

Welcome all, for those who don't know: Jonah Henry doesn't like most people. As a matter of fact, they just plain disgust him. In the year 2057, folks have just gotten too lazy for a hardworking, hammer-slinger like him. With no family and no friends, Jonah only really cares about two people in his world, Evelyn, his landlord, and her six-year-old daughter, Pollie. When Jonah returns late one night to find a group of gussied-up men beating Evelyn, he stumbles upon a conspiracy that could destroy all mankind. Unable to save her, Jonah feels duty-bound to grant Evelyn her last wish -- deliver her daughter and their tiny kitten Beebee to the only man she trusts, the father that ostracized her years ago. As the entire city collapses on Jonah and his young charges, he finds himself pounding his way through futuristic assassins and killer robots. Prepare yourself for all-out war as a man entrenched in the ways of the past fights against all the technology the future can muster.

Hammer Sound is an online webcomic that was created by Doug Wagner (writer), Evan Bryce (artist) and Vinh-Luan Luu (letterer).
